You don’t have to watch tapes in order to “activate” the puzzle solutions they reveal. This seems like a bit of an obvious tip, but speedrunning on the Easy difficulty setting will definitely help since enemies will take less effort to kill and won’t do as much damage to you if they get a lucky hit in. Having these three items can significantly cut down on the amount of time it takes you to get through certain parts of the game.
Unlock These Items Firstīefore you begin any serious speedrunning efforts, you’ll want to first unlock the Albert-01 pistol (beat the game on any difficulty), the Circular Saw (beat the game in four hours or less), and the Infinite Ammo toggle (beat the game on Madhouse difficulty). Also, I’m not offering any guarantees that following the below tips will make you into an expert Resident Evil 7 speedrunner, but they are very handy for getting started as you figure out your own optimal strategies and routes. Some of the below tips can also prove handy if you’re attempting to earn the achievement where you beat the game in four hours or less. Note that these tips do contain spoilers for Resident Evil 7.
If you’re curious to see just how quickly you can beat Resident Evil 7, either as an official speedrunner or just for the heck of it, the below tips which I have culled both from other speedrunners and from my own experience with the game should hopefully help. Thanks to its relatively short campaign and large number of different unlockable items, Resident Evil 7 has a surprisingly large amount of replay value which in turn makes it an ideal candidate for the art of speedrunning. Despite the fact that it is barely a few weeks old, Resident Evil 7 already has a dedicated group of speedrunners who are hard at work seeing how quickly the game can be completed under a variety of different conditions.
